An electric FireFly
The FireFly ESV made by ev Transportation Services Inc. is what’s called an essential services vehicle. The three-wheeled EV is specifically designed for jobs like parking enforcement, security, shipping and delivery, and grounds maintenance. It uses lithium-iron-phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries under the driver’s seat that are said to let the FireFly go 90 miles thanks to a CANbus data acquisition system that optimizes battery use. The car is modular so it can be fitted with different body styles that fit the job it does. evTS officials say the price tag is in the $40,000 range, a bit more than what similar conventional vehicles go for, but they say the FireFly more than makes up for its price tag through low operating costs.
