Bluetooth on a stick
Another giveaway at the seminar was this USB development kit which we plugged into our laptop to play with. We interacted with it by running a terminal emulator – Dialog provides copies of Tera Term if you don’t already have one – then changing the flashing rate of one of the two LEDs that sit on the board. If you were to actually use the USB board for development work, you would make use of an on-board JLINK debugger for perfecting BLE apps. The debugger works in combination with SmartSnippets, Dialog’s software environment. Additionally, there’s a mikroBUSTM header interface that allows adding numerous expansion boards, called click boards, handling sensing functions such as for pressure, proximity, temperature, and so forth.
