Free trip to Germany in the future of a few lucky engineers

January 12, 2016 By Lee Teschler Leave a Comment

A few fortunate individuals will soon be touching down in Hannover, Germany, to kick the tires and take selfies with some of the manufacturing industry’s most exciting innovations at the upcoming Hannover Fair — for free. A trip to the Fair is what’s at stake in a contest sponsored by enclosure manufacturer Rittal.

Rittal bills itself as the world’s largest enclosure manufacturer and a leader in thermal management of electrical, electronic and IT equipment. The company is hosting just eight lucky winners on this trip to Germany, with all Hannover Fair passes, airfare, hotel and meals taken care of as part of the program. Besides spending time at the Fair, winners get a behind-the-scenes tour of the company’s highly automated manufacturing facilities nearby, along with time to visit a few of Germany’s attractions and beer gardens.

hannover exhibitThis year’s Hannover event features several special exhibit areas associated with the Industry 4.0 initiative. Among them are an Energy Research display area where representatives of high-tech companies and the finest minds from research institutes, universities, and institutes of technology gather to explain their role in the energy transition and shed light on the enormous potential.

In another area of the Fair called the World of Nano, the main emphasis is on nanotech-sector networking, technology transfer, project initiation and project management.

Another area devoted to organic electronics covers developments aimed at substituting organic materials for inorganic materials in electronic systems. The Organic Electronics display area provides a platform where exhibitors showcase their latest market-ready products and solutions.

The Wireless, M2M & IoT area highlights wireless communication between machines: The joint pavilion “SmartConnected” is a meeting place for leaders in wireless technology, machine-to-machine communication and the IoT.
