When vehicles talk to each other
The dedicated short-range communications schemes envisioned for connected cars may use antennas like this example at the Laird Technologies booth. It incorporates not only DSRC but also GNSS, 4G MIMO, AM/FM and XM. It gets power through an Ethernet cable and communicates with a telematics communication module sitting under the roof. The DSRC controller uses GPS position information to figure things like vehicle speed, position and safe pass zones. It also will detect hard breaking events.
