SOSA-aligned VPX board features 100 GbE data plane connectivity

September 11, 2025 By Redding Traiger Leave a Comment

Acromag has introduced the VPX7600, a 3U OpenVPX single board computer designed to meet Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA) Technical Standard requirements for I/O intensive applications. The board incorporates an Intel 11th Generation Tiger Lake-H Xeon W-11000E Series processor with 8 cores, providing enhanced processing capabilities for defense, aerospace, and scientific research systems.

The VPX7600 supports up to 32 GB of dual-channel, soldered-down DDR4 ECC memory operating at data rates of 3200 MT/s. An integrated Intel Gen12 UHD graphics Xe 32EU engine operates at clock speeds up to 1.35 GHz, enabling advanced graphics processing capabilities. Data storage is handled by an NVMe M.2 BGA SSD with capacity options up to 1TB, with 64GB provided as the standard configuration.

Connectivity features include an Intel E810 Ethernet controller that provides 100GbE capability on the data plane and 10 GbE on the control plane. Additional backplane I/O interfaces include a 2.5-gigabit Ethernet port with Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) support, DisplayPort 1.4 interface supporting HBR3 data rates and 4K resolution, USB 3.2 and USB 2.0 ports, SATA III port, RS232/RS422 serial interfaces, and discrete GPIO lines.

The board includes an XMC expansion site that enables integration of mezzanine modules for advanced computation capabilities and additional I/O functionality. A PCIe Gen3 x4 expansion plane provides further connectivity options for system integration. The VPX7600 incorporates VITA 46.11 Tier-3 compliance and HOST 3.0 interface standards.

Both conduction-cooled and air-cooled versions are available to accommodate different thermal management requirements. The board supports Microsoft Windows, Linux, and VxWorks operating systems through included board support packages. Designed and manufactured in the United States, the VPX7600 provides operational reliability for military embedded computing systems and modular open system applications that require SOSA alignment.
