Intelligent battery charger circuit – I would like to build a module of battery charging circuit, better can use microcontroller to monitor the status. Is there any recommendations on those battery charging ICs to achieve the task? Read more.

Erasing the programming of a locked, 8-bit MCU – Is it possible to reset or do something with locked Atmega 8. while programming my mcu, something happened and the chip got locked. Now I can’t erase it, reprogram it, or do anything else with it, at least not with standard ISP programmer.  I fou tried to use an STKto erase fuses, but it seems that my STK doesn’t work. Is there any good method to check if it is working? Can anyone post a minimum system configuration schematic so I can verify the STK’s operation? Read more.

PCB layout for debugger with through-hole components  – I drew the original schematic for the PicKit 2 into Eagle using all through-hole components. I substituted the dual MOSFET with discrites, and replaced the op-amp with a through hole version. All of the other parts are identical to the original (just through-hole). The problem is when I built the circuit, the device connects and is recognized by both MPLAB and PicKit software, but it disconnects randomly. I am pretty sure the schematic is correct. Can someone help with my layout? Read more.

Replacing a microcontroller – I am looking to replace my current microcontroller with a lower-priced, simpler, and more available device. The device I am considering is not a direct replacement so here are the required emulations of the functions. Any help or comments? Read more.

DIY moving message display – I am developing a moving-message display program for my microcontroller that incorporates a built-in character set from which you can select letters to create a message. Does anyone have any recommendations for the MCU hardware and software design? Read more.
