Hypervisors with no hackers allowed
Virtually ever piece of software demonstrated at TU Automotive prominently featured security. This hypervisor from Perseus was no exception. The idea behind the Perseus hypervisor is to run Linux, Android, Autosar, and other software modules in their own secure containers with a separate secure operating system managing things. Ordinary hypervisors, says Perseus, don’t ordinarily include the kind of security walls its software builds in. The hypervisor runs on an ARM SoC from Rensas Electronics. Among the other features of the software are a fast boot-up for Linux and use of just 1-2 MB DRAM.
Chuck says
Hypervisor for automobile is a smart idea if the overhead proves insignificant. Someday automakers can realize the security benefits of hypervisor.
