Projected capacitive (PCAP) touch panels now come in 21.5-in, 31.5-in sizes

May 13, 2019 By Aimee Kalnoskas Leave a Comment

Projected capacitive touch panelsFujitsu Components America has added 21.5-inch and 31.5-inch projected capacitive (PCAP) touch panels to its standard PCAP-S series line. The expansion addresses the increasing OEM development of large, interactive displays for digital signage, industrial PC, instrumentation, medical equipment, and smart retail applications.

The new large touch panels consist of a Glass-Film-Film structure measuring 1.8mm-thick with a clear, glossy finish. Optical performance is 85 percent transparency with 1 percent haze.

The touch panels support 2-finger gesturing, 10-finger multi-touch functionality, and active pen input for flexible user interaction and content manipulation. Their operating life is 10 million touches.

A Chip-on-Film (COF) with various controller IC options and a USB Interface is standard with a 1mm-pitch Flat Flexible Cable (FFC) connection to support major operating systems.

Optional value-add features include custom cover glass less than 10mm; custom sizes and shapes; strengthened glass; full-color border graphics, logos, and designs; and glass options such as anti-glare and anti-smudge finishings.

To ensure consistent quality and reduce time-to-market, Fujitsu partners provide PCAP and LCD panel integration vertical support, including wet/dry optical bonding, controller boards, custom cables, open frame solutions, enclosed monitors, and more.

In addition to the new 21.5 and 31.5-inch panels, 12 other sizes in the PCAP-S series, ranging from 7W to 19-inches, are available immediately through distribution and sales reps found here. New 23.8-inch and 27-inch panels are forthcoming in Q3 2019.
