Rugged VITA 75 computing platform carries accelerated processing for mil/aero apps

September 17, 2019 By Aimee Kalnoskas Leave a Comment

HPERC-KBL computing platformADlilink Technology, Inc. released its latest Extreme Rugged, SWaP-optimized VITA 75 COTS computing platform, the HPERC-KBL, designed for mission-critical applications such as C4ISR and use in the world’s most demanding military and aerospace environments.

The HPERC-KBL, focusing on balancing SWaP constraints against high compute performance and scalability, significantly strengthens ADLINK’s SFF portfolio by bringing an intelligent solution with its accelerated computing capabilities. Like all HPERC solutions, the new platform features VITA 75 standard mounting, silent passive cooling, and measurements of only 223.7 x 177.8 x 98.7 mm (8.8 x 7.0 x 3.9 inches) for the conductive cold plate “MC” variant, and 304.8 x 150.0 x 130.0 mm (12.0 x 5.9 x 5.1 inches) for the finned passive convection “MH” variant.

Despite its diminutive size, the HPERC-KBL contains a quad-core Intel® Xeon processor combined with 16GB of ECC DDR4 memory to provide ample processing performance, which can be further enhanced with an optional NVIDIA Quadro MXM module for GPGPU-accelerated applications. Removable SATA and SD storage provide data collection capabilities, while four Gigabit Ethernet and six USB ports via MIL-DTL-38999 connectors offer all the network and device connectivity required in demanding edge settings. An IP67-rated sealed enclosure small enough to mount under a vehicle seat or carry in a backpack, along with a MIL-STD-461F/810G/704F/1275E certified design makes the HPERC-KBL a literal perfect fit in highly mobile environments where neither constant movement nor debris ingress can be allowed to interfere with demanding data processing tasks.
