Latent AI and Wind River have announced a technical cooperation to integrate AI inference capabilities with real-time operating systems for edge computing applications. The partnership combines Wind River’s RTOS platforms — VxWorks, Wind River Linux, and eLxr Pro — with Latent AI’s Efficient Inference Platform (LEIP).
The integrated solution targets applications requiring deterministic behavior, reliability, and power efficiency. The AI-RTOS combination provides workflows from model training through deployment, designed for mission-critical operations in aerospace, industrial, and embedded systems.
LEIP provides model compression up to 10x while preserving accuracy levels. The platform includes an MLOps pipeline for model updates and redeployment, addressing scenarios where cloud connectivity is limited or latency requirements are strict. The integration represents the first comprehensive pairing of enterprise AI optimization tools with established RTOS technology.
The partnership enables developers to deploy AI applications while meeting certification standards required in aerospace, automotive, and industrial control systems.
VxWorks is an RTOS deployed in mission-critical systems requiring safety and security certification. It supports Open Container Initiative (OCI)-compliant containers and enables software-defined capability deployment. Wind River Linux provides a development platform for embedded solutions running on Linux. eLxr Pro offers commercial support for the Debian-derivative eLxr distribution, targeting cloud-to-edge deployments.
This announcement follows Wind River’s previous partnerships in edge AI, including collaborations with DEEPX for hardware-software edge AI solutions, SiMa.ai for integrated hardware and software platforms, and Nota AI for on-device generative AI optimization.
