Acromag has introduced the XMC-ZU series, a configurable XMC module based on the AMD Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC. The device integrates a quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 application processor unit and a dual-core ARM Cortex-R5 real-time processor unit, along with programmable logic.
The module supports external memory interfaces including DDR4 and eMMC, dual Quad-SPI flash memory and microSD or NOR flash boot. A peripheral set comprises USB 3.0, USB-UART, DisplayPort, Gigabit Ethernet and high-speed serial lanes routed via the rear XMC P15, while LVDS pairs, global clock pairs and other programmable I/O signals are accessible at P4 and P16 connectors.
Designers may mount plug-in AXM mezzanine I/O modules for analog, digital and mixed-signal expansion. The module supports rugged environments and is offered in air-cooled and conduction-cooled variants.
The Engineering Design Kit (EDK) includes example designs targeting the development environment Xilinx Vivado, as well as support for Vitis and PetaLinux, enabling deployment under various operating systems.
