Atom x5-Z8350 processor clocked at 1.92 GHz

May 15, 2018 By Aimee Kalnoskas Leave a Comment

embedded boardsAs the marker-board community has moved to demand certain features from new board designs, it has become essential that industrial-capacity boards also offer those features, so that development products can move easily to production, with the long life-cycle and ruggedness needed. Estone Technology’s newest EMB-2610 Pico-ITX board is the next step in this evolution.

The main difference between Estone Technology’s EMB-2610 and the previously featured EMB-2230 is the switch from an NXP i.MX6 Dual or Quad core processor to the Intel “Cherry Trail” Atom x5-Z8350 processor clocked at 1.92GHz. This provides flexible power for those in need of an Intel-based solution. This also means that the board sports Intel Cherry Trail HD graphics and the other SoC features included. The board features 2 or 4GB DDR3L memory, and up to 64G of onboard iNAND flash memory.

The new EMB-2610 also features significantly more I/O options than previous boards, including WiFi and Bluetooth modules, a Micro HDMI display interface, LVDS/eDP and MIPI DSI LCD interfaces, a GbE port, multiple RS-232/485 headers, and 4 different USB ports and headers. Still included are 4+ GPIO ports, and two, I2C ports.

Also retained in this board is the 40-Pin expansion header, which supports GPIOs, front panel controls, PCIe, and POE (Power Over Ethernet) expansions. Estone Technology offers a variety of ready-made modules for connecting to the expansion header, and Estone Technology also publishes the header specs and diagrams to make it easy to develop custom expansion items.

Estone Technology has configured the EMB-2610 to support Windows 10, Windows 10 IoT, various Linux distros, or Android 5.1.

Estone Technology offers the EMB-2610 as the power at the heart of 7” and  10” Panel PC kits – PPC-6607 and PPC-6610. These kits feature a high-quality LCD Touch Panel in IP65 Waterproof enclosures, perfect for industrial or commercial applications anywhere. Screen brightness up to 400 NIT and optional speakers also help make the Intel Cherry Trail-based Touch Panel PCs a perfect fit for any application.

By making use of the expansion header found on the embedded board, product designers can use the panel PCs in applications ranging from simple information kiosks, to vending equipment, to appliance and industrial equipment control. Properly installed, the panel PCs can operate in temperatures from 0°-50°C, and withstand a variety of other environmental factors. The panel PCs are set up for Wall Mounting, Panel Mounting, or via 75×75 VESA mounting.
